10:13
وَ لَ قَدْ أَهْلَكْ نَا ٱلْ قُرُونَ مِن قَبْلِ كُمْ لَمَّا ظَلَمُ وا۟ وَ جَآءَتْ هُمْ رُسُلُ هُم بِ ٱلْ بَيِّنَٰتِ وَ مَا كَانُ وا۟ لِ يُؤْمِنُ وا۟ كَ ذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْ قَوْمَ ٱلْ مُجْرِمِينَ
And We had already destroyed generations before you when they wronged, and their messengers had come to them with clear proofs, but they were not to believe. Thus do We recompense the criminal people
11:117
وَ مَا كَانَ رَبُّ كَ لِ يُهْلِكَ ٱلْ قُرَىٰ بِ ظُلْمٍ وَ أَهْلُ هَا مُصْلِحُونَ
And your Lord would not have destroyed the cities unjustly while their people were reformers.
14:13
وَ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُ وا۟ لِ رُسُلِ هِمْ لَ نُخْرِجَ نَّ كُم مِّنْ أَرْضِ نَآ أَوْ لَ تَعُودُ نَّ فِى مِلَّتِ نَا فَ أَوْحَىٰٓ إِلَيْ هِمْ رَبُّ هُمْ لَ نُهْلِكَ نَّ ٱل ظَّٰلِمِينَ
And those who disbelieved said to their messengers, "We will surely drive you out of our land, or you must return to our religion." So their Lord inspired to them, "We will surely destroy the wrongdoers.
15:4
وَ مَآ أَهْلَكْ نَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا وَ لَ هَا كِتَابٌ مَّعْلُومٌ
And We did not destroy any city but that for it was a known decree.
17:16
وَ إِذَآ أَرَدْ نَآ أَن نُّهْلِكَ قَرْيَةً أَمَرْ نَا مُتْرَفِي هَا فَ فَسَقُ وا۟ فِي هَا فَ حَقَّ عَلَيْ هَا ٱلْ قَوْلُ فَ دَمَّرْ نَٰ هَا تَدْمِيرًا
And when We intend to destroy a city, We command its affluent but they defiantly disobey therein; so the word comes into effect upon it, and We destroy it with [complete] destruction.
17:17
وَ كَمْ أَهْلَكْ نَا مِنَ ٱلْ قُرُونِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ نُوحٍ وَ كَفَىٰ بِ رَبِّ كَ بِ ذُنُوبِ عِبَادِ هِۦ خَبِيرًۢا بَصِيرًا
And how many have We destroyed from the generations after Noah. And sufficient is your Lord, concerning the sins of His servants, as Acquainted and Seeing.
17:58
وَ إِن مِّن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا نَحْنُ مُهْلِكُو هَا قَبْلَ يَوْمِ ٱلْ قِيَٰمَةِ أَوْ مُعَذِّبُو هَا عَذَابًا شَدِيدًا كَانَ ذَٰلِكَ فِى ٱلْ كِتَٰبِ مَسْطُورًا
And there is no city but that We will destroy it before the Day of Resurrection or punish it with a severe punishment. That has ever been in the Register inscribed.
18:59
وَ تِلْكَ ٱلْ قُرَىٰٓ أَهْلَكْ نَٰ هُمْ لَمَّا ظَلَمُ وا۟ وَ جَعَلْ نَا لِ مَهْلِكِ هِم مَّوْعِدًا
And those cities - We destroyed them when they wronged, and We made for their destruction an appointed time.
19:74
وَ كَمْ أَهْلَكْ نَا قَبْلَ هُم مِّن قَرْنٍ هُمْ أَحْسَنُ أَثَٰثًا وَ رِءْيًا
And how many a generation have We destroyed before them who were better in possessions and [outward] appearance?
19:98
وَ كَمْ أَهْلَكْ نَا قَبْلَ هُم مِّن قَرْنٍ هَلْ تُحِسُّ مِنْ هُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ أَوْ تَسْمَعُ لَ هُمْ رِكْزًۢا
And how many have We destroyed before them of generations? Do you perceive of them anyone or hear from them a sound?
20:128
أَ فَ لَمْ يَهْدِ لَ هُمْ كَمْ أَهْلَكْ نَا قَبْلَ هُم مِّنَ ٱلْ قُرُونِ يَمْشُ ونَ فِى مَسَٰكِنِ هِمْ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَ ءَايَٰتٍ لِّ أُو۟لِى ٱل نُّهَىٰ
Then, has it not become clear to them how many generations We destroyed before them as they walk among their dwellings? Indeed in that are signs for those of intelligence.
20:134
وَ لَوْ أَنَّ آ أَهْلَكْ نَٰ هُم بِ عَذَابٍ مِّن قَبْلِ هِۦ لَ قَالُ وا۟ رَبَّ نَا لَوْلَآ أَرْسَلْ تَ إِلَيْ نَا رَسُولًا فَ نَتَّبِعَ ءَايَٰتِ كَ مِن قَبْلِ أَن نَّذِلَّ وَ نَخْزَىٰ
And if We had destroyed them with a punishment before him, they would have said, "Our Lord, why did You not send to us a messenger so we could have followed Your verses before we were humiliated and disgraced?"
21:6
مَآ ءَامَنَتْ قَبْلَ هُم مِّن قَرْيَةٍ أَهْلَكْ نَٰ هَآ أَ فَ هُمْ يُؤْمِنُ ونَ
Not a [single] city which We destroyed believed before them, so will they believe?
21:9
ثُمَّ صَدَقْ نَٰ هُمُ ٱلْ وَعْدَ فَ أَنجَيْ نَٰ هُمْ وَ مَن نَّشَآءُ وَ أَهْلَكْ نَا ٱلْ مُسْرِفِينَ
Then We fulfilled for them the promise, and We saved them and whom We willed and destroyed the transgressors.
21:95
وَ حَرَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ قَرْيَةٍ أَهْلَكْ نَٰ هَآ أَنَّ هُمْ لَا يَرْجِعُ ونَ
And there is prohibition upon [the people of] a city which We have destroyed that they will [ever] return
22:45
فَ كَأَيِّن مِّن قَرْيَةٍ أَهْلَكْ نَٰ هَا وَ هِىَ ظَالِمَةٌ فَ هِىَ خَاوِيَةٌ عَلَىٰ عُرُوشِ هَا وَ بِئْرٍ مُّعَطَّلَةٍ وَ قَصْرٍ مَّشِيدٍ
And how many a city did We destroy while it was committing wrong - so it is [now] fallen into ruin - and [how many] an abandoned well and [how many] a lofty palace.
23:48
فَ كَذَّبُ و هُمَا فَ كَانُ وا۟ مِنَ ٱلْ مُهْلَكِينَ
So they denied them and were of those destroyed.
26:139
فَ كَذَّبُ و هُ فَ أَهْلَكْ نَٰ هُمْ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَ ءَايَةً وَ مَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُ هُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
26:208
وَ مَآ أَهْلَكْ نَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا لَ هَا مُنذِرُونَ
And We did not destroy any city except that it had warners
28:43
وَ لَ قَدْ ءَاتَيْ نَا مُوسَى ٱلْ كِتَٰبَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَآ أَهْلَكْ نَا ٱلْ قُرُونَ ٱلْ أُولَىٰ بَصَآئِرَ لِ ل نَّاسِ وَ هُدًى وَ رَحْمَةً لَّعَلَّ هُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُ ونَ
And We gave Moses the Scripture, after We had destroyed the former generations, as enlightenment for the people and guidance and mercy that they might be reminded.
28:58
وَ كَمْ أَهْلَكْ نَا مِن قَرْيَةٍۭ بَطِرَتْ مَعِيشَتَ هَا فَ تِلْكَ مَسَٰكِنُ هُمْ لَمْ تُسْكَن مِّنۢ بَعْدِ هِمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا وَ كُ نَّا نَحْنُ ٱلْ وَٰرِثِينَ
And how many a city have We destroyed that was insolent in its [way of] living, and those are their dwellings which have not been inhabited after them except briefly. And it is We who were the inheritors.
28:59
وَ مَا كَانَ رَبُّ كَ مُهْلِكَ ٱلْ قُرَىٰ حَتَّىٰ يَبْعَثَ فِىٓ أُمِّ هَا رَسُولًا يَتْلُوا۟ عَلَيْ هِمْ ءَايَٰتِ نَا وَ مَا كُ نَّا مُهْلِكِى ٱلْ قُرَىٰٓ إِلَّا وَ أَهْلُ هَا ظَٰلِمُونَ
And never would your Lord have destroyed the cities until He had sent to their mother a messenger reciting to them Our verses. And We would not destroy the cities except while their people were wrongdoers.
28:78
قَالَ إِنَّ مَآ أُوتِي تُ هُۥ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ عِندِ ىٓ أَ وَ لَمْ يَعْلَمْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَدْ أَهْلَكَ مِن قَبْلِ هِۦ مِنَ ٱلْ قُرُونِ مَنْ هُوَ أَشَدُّ مِنْ هُ قُوَّةً وَ أَكْثَرُ جَمْعًا وَ لَا يُسْـَٔلُ عَن ذُنُوبِ هِمُ ٱلْ مُجْرِمُونَ
He said, "I was only given it because of knowledge I have." Did he not know that Allah had destroyed before him of generations those who were greater than him in power and greater in accumulation [of wealth]? But the criminals, about their sins, will not be asked.
29:31
وَ لَمَّا جَآءَتْ رُسُلُ نَآ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ بِ ٱلْ بُشْرَىٰ قَالُ وٓا۟ إِنَّ ا مُهْلِكُوٓا۟ أَهْلِ هَٰذِهِ ٱلْ قَرْيَةِ إِنَّ أَهْلَ هَا كَانُ وا۟ ظَٰلِمِينَ
And when Our messengers came to Abraham with the good tidings, they said, "Indeed, we will destroy the people of that Lot's city. Indeed, its people have been wrongdoers."
2:205
وَ إِذَا تَوَلَّىٰ سَعَىٰ فِى ٱلْ أَرْضِ لِ يُفْسِدَ فِي هَا وَ يُهْلِكَ ٱلْ حَرْثَ وَ ٱل نَّسْلَ وَ ٱللَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْ فَسَادَ
And when he goes away, he strives throughout the land to cause corruption therein and destroy crops and animals. And Allah does not like corruption.
32:26
أَ وَ لَمْ يَهْدِ لَ هُمْ كَمْ أَهْلَكْ نَا مِن قَبْلِ هِم مِّنَ ٱلْ قُرُونِ يَمْشُ ونَ فِى مَسَٰكِنِ هِمْ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَ ءَايَٰتٍ أَ فَ لَا يَسْمَعُ ونَ
Has it not become clear to them how many generations We destroyed before them, [as] they walk among their dwellings? Indeed in that are signs; then do they not hear?
36:31
أَ لَمْ يَرَ وْا۟ كَمْ أَهْلَكْ نَا قَبْلَ هُم مِّنَ ٱلْ قُرُونِ أَنَّ هُمْ إِلَيْ هِمْ لَا يَرْجِعُ ونَ
Have they not considered how many generations We destroyed before them - that they to them will not return?
38:3
كَمْ أَهْلَكْ نَا مِن قَبْلِ هِم مِّن قَرْنٍ فَ نَادَ وا۟ وَّ لَاتَ حِينَ مَنَاصٍ
How many a generation have We destroyed before them, and they [then] called out; but it was not a time for escape.
3:117
مَثَلُ مَا يُنفِقُ ونَ فِى هَٰذِهِ ٱلْ حَيَوٰةِ ٱل دُّنْيَا كَ مَثَلِ رِيحٍ فِي هَا صِرٌّ أَصَابَتْ حَرْثَ قَوْمٍ ظَلَمُ وٓا۟ أَنفُسَ هُمْ فَ أَهْلَكَتْ هُ وَ مَا ظَلَمَ هُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَ لَٰكِنْ أَنفُسَ هُمْ يَظْلِمُ ونَ
The example of what they spend in this worldly life is like that of a wind containing frost which strikes the harvest of a people who have wronged themselves and destroys it. And Allah has not wronged them, but they wrong themselves.
43:8
فَ أَهْلَكْ نَآ أَشَدَّ مِنْ هُم بَطْشًا وَ مَضَىٰ مَثَلُ ٱلْ أَوَّلِينَ
And We destroyed greater than them in [striking] power, and the example of the former peoples has preceded.
44:37
أَ هُمْ خَيْرٌ أَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ وَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِ هِمْ أَهْلَكْ نَٰ هُمْ إِنَّ هُمْ كَانُ وا۟ مُجْرِمِينَ
Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them, [for] indeed, they were criminals.
45:24
وَ قَالُ وا۟ مَا هِىَ إِلَّا حَيَاتُ نَا ٱل دُّنْيَا نَمُوتُ وَ نَحْيَا وَ مَا يُهْلِكُ نَآ إِلَّا ٱل دَّهْرُ وَ مَا لَ هُم بِ ذَٰلِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ إِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا يَظُنُّ ونَ
And they say, "There is not but our worldly life; we die and live, and nothing destroys us except time." And they have of that no knowledge; they are only assuming.
46:27
وَ لَ قَدْ أَهْلَكْ نَا مَا حَوْلَ كُم مِّنَ ٱلْ قُرَىٰ وَ صَرَّفْ نَا ٱلْ ءَايَٰتِ لَعَلَّ هُمْ يَرْجِعُ ونَ
And We have already destroyed what surrounds you of [those] cities, and We have diversified the signs [or verses] that perhaps they might return [from disbelief].
46:35
فَ ٱصْبِرْ كَ مَا صَبَرَ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْ عَزْمِ مِنَ ٱل رُّسُلِ وَ لَا تَسْتَعْجِل لَّ هُمْ كَأَنَّ هُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَ وْنَ مَا يُوعَدُ ونَ لَمْ يَلْبَثُ وٓا۟ إِلَّا سَاعَةً مِّن نَّهَارٍۭ بَلَٰغٌ فَ هَلْ يُهْلَكُ إِلَّا ٱلْ قَوْمُ ٱلْ فَٰسِقُونَ
So be patient, [O Muhammad], as were those of determination among the messengers and do not be impatient for them. It will be - on the Day they see that which they are promised - as though they had not remained [in the world] except an hour of a day. [This is] notification. And will [any] be destroyed except the defiantly disobedient people?
47:13
وَ كَأَيِّن مِّن قَرْيَةٍ هِىَ أَشَدُّ قُوَّةً مِّن قَرْيَتِ كَ ٱلَّتِىٓ أَخْرَجَتْ كَ أَهْلَكْ نَٰ هُمْ فَ لَا نَاصِرَ لَ هُمْ
And how many a city was stronger than your city [Makkah] which drove you out? We destroyed them; and there was no helper for them.
50:36
وَ كَمْ أَهْلَكْ نَا قَبْلَ هُم مِّن قَرْنٍ هُمْ أَشَدُّ مِنْ هُم بَطْشًا فَ نَقَّبُ وا۟ فِى ٱلْ بِلَٰدِ هَلْ مِن مَّحِيصٍ
And how many a generation before them did We destroy who were greater than them in [striking] power and had explored throughout the lands. Is there any place of escape?
53:50
وَ أَنَّ هُۥٓ أَهْلَكَ عَادًا ٱلْ أُولَىٰ
And that He destroyed the first [people of] 'Aad
54:51
وَ لَ قَدْ أَهْلَكْ نَآ أَشْيَاعَ كُمْ فَ هَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
And We have already destroyed your kinds, so is there any who will remember?
5:17
لَّ قَدْ كَفَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُ وٓا۟ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلْ مَسِيحُ ٱبْنُ مَرْيَمَ قُلْ فَ مَن يَمْلِكُ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيْـًٔا إِنْ أَرَادَ أَن يُهْلِكَ ٱلْ مَسِيحَ ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ وَ أُمَّ هُۥ وَ مَن فِى ٱلْ أَرْضِ جَمِيعًا وَ لِ لَّهِ مُلْكُ ٱل سَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَ ٱلْ أَرْضِ وَ مَا بَيْنَ هُمَا يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَآءُ وَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
They have certainly disbelieved who say that Allah is Christ, the son of Mary. Say, "Then who could prevent Allah at all if He had intended to destroy Christ, the son of Mary, or his mother or everyone on the earth?" And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them. He creates what He wills, and Allah is over all things competent.
67:28
قُلْ أَ رَءَيْ تُمْ إِنْ أَهْلَكَ نِىَ ٱللَّهُ وَ مَن مَّعِ ىَ أَوْ رَحِمَ نَا فَ مَن يُجِيرُ ٱلْ كَٰفِرِينَ مِنْ عَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ
Say, [O Muhammad], "Have you considered: whether Allah should cause my death and those with me or have mercy upon us, who can protect the disbelievers from a painful punishment?"
69:5
فَ أَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَ أُهْلِكُ وا۟ بِ ٱل طَّاغِيَةِ
So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast].
69:6
وَ أَمَّا عَادٌ فَ أُهْلِكُ وا۟ بِ رِيحٍ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍ
And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind
6:131
ذَٰلِكَ أَن لَّمْ يَكُن رَّبُّ كَ مُهْلِكَ ٱلْ قُرَىٰ بِ ظُلْمٍ وَ أَهْلُ هَا غَٰفِلُونَ
That is because your Lord would not destroy the cities for wrongdoing while their people were unaware.
6:26
وَ هُمْ يَنْهَ وْنَ عَنْ هُ وَ يَنْـَٔ وْنَ عَنْ هُ وَ إِن يُهْلِكُ ونَ إِلَّآ أَنفُسَ هُمْ وَ مَا يَشْعُرُ ونَ
And they prevent [others] from him and are [themselves] remote from him. And they do not destroy except themselves, but they perceive [it] not.
6:47
قُلْ أَ رَءَيْ تَ كُمْ إِنْ أَتَىٰ كُمْ عَذَابُ ٱللَّهِ بَغْتَةً أَوْ جَهْرَةً هَلْ يُهْلَكُ إِلَّا ٱلْ قَوْمُ ٱل ظَّٰلِمُونَ
Say, "Have you considered: if the punishment of Allah should come to you unexpectedly or manifestly, will any be destroyed but the wrongdoing people?"
6:6
أَ لَمْ يَرَ وْا۟ كَمْ أَهْلَكْ نَا مِن قَبْلِ هِم مِّن قَرْنٍ مَّكَّ نَّٰ هُمْ فِى ٱلْ أَرْضِ مَا لَمْ نُمَكِّن لَّ كُمْ وَ أَرْسَلْ نَا ٱل سَّمَآءَ عَلَيْ هِم مِّدْرَارًا وَ جَعَلْ نَا ٱلْ أَنْهَٰرَ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِ هِمْ فَ أَهْلَكْ نَٰ هُم بِ ذُنُوبِ هِمْ وَ أَنشَأْ نَا مِنۢ بَعْدِ هِمْ قَرْنًا ءَاخَرِينَ
Have they not seen how many generations We destroyed before them which We had established upon the earth as We have not established you? And We sent [rain from] the sky upon them in showers and made rivers flow beneath them; then We destroyed them for their sins and brought forth after them a generation of others.
77:16
أَ لَمْ نُهْلِكِ ٱلْ أَوَّلِينَ
Did We not destroy the former peoples?
7:129
قَالُ وٓا۟ أُوذِي نَا مِن قَبْلِ أَن تَأْتِيَ نَا وَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جِئْ تَ نَا قَالَ عَسَىٰ رَبُّ كُمْ أَن يُهْلِكَ عَدُوَّ كُمْ وَ يَسْتَخْلِفَ كُمْ فِى ٱلْ أَرْضِ فَ يَنظُرَ كَيْفَ تَعْمَلُ ونَ
They said, "We have been harmed before you came to us and after you have come to us." He said, "Perhaps your Lord will destroy your enemy and grant you succession in the land and see how you will do."
7:155
وَ ٱخْتَارَ مُوسَىٰ قَوْمَ هُۥ سَبْعِينَ رَجُلًا لِّ مِيقَٰتِ نَا فَ لَمَّآ أَخَذَتْ هُمُ ٱل رَّجْفَةُ قَالَ رَبِّ لَوْ شِئْ تَ أَهْلَكْ تَ هُم مِّن قَبْلُ وَ إِيَّٰىَ أَ تُهْلِكُ نَا بِ مَا فَعَلَ ٱل سُّفَهَآءُ مِنَّ آ إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّا فِتْنَتُ كَ تُضِلُّ بِ هَا مَن تَشَآءُ وَ تَهْدِى مَن تَشَآءُ أَنتَ وَلِيُّ نَا فَ ٱغْفِرْ لَ نَا وَ ٱرْحَمْ نَا وَ أَنتَ خَيْرُ ٱلْ غَٰفِرِينَ
And Moses chose from his people seventy men for Our appointment. And when the earthquake seized them, he said, "My Lord, if You had willed, You could have destroyed them before and me [as well]. Would You destroy us for what the foolish among us have done? This is not but Your trial by which You send astray whom You will and guide whom You will. You are our Protector, so forgive us and have mercy upon us; and You are the best of forgivers.
7:164
وَ إِذْ قَالَتْ أُمَّةٌ مِّنْ هُمْ لِ مَ تَعِظُ ونَ قَوْمًا ٱللَّهُ مُهْلِكُ هُمْ أَوْ مُعَذِّبُ هُمْ عَذَابًا شَدِيدًا قَالُ وا۟ مَعْذِرَةً إِلَىٰ رَبِّ كُمْ وَ لَعَلَّ هُمْ يَتَّقُ ونَ
And when a community among them said, "Why do you advise [or warn] a people whom Allah is [about] to destroy or to punish with a severe punishment?" they [the advisors] said, "To be absolved before your Lord and perhaps they may fear Him."
7:173
أَوْ تَقُولُ وٓا۟ إِنَّ مَآ أَشْرَكَ ءَابَآؤُ نَا مِن قَبْلُ وَ كُ نَّا ذُرِّيَّةً مِّنۢ بَعْدِ هِمْ أَ فَ تُهْلِكُ نَا بِ مَا فَعَلَ ٱلْ مُبْطِلُونَ
Or [lest] you say, "It was only that our fathers associated [others in worship] with Allah before, and we were but descendants after them. Then would You destroy us for what the falsifiers have done?"
7:4
وَ كَم مِّن قَرْيَةٍ أَهْلَكْ نَٰ هَا فَ جَآءَ هَا بَأْسُ نَا بَيَٰتًا أَوْ هُمْ قَآئِلُونَ
And how many cities have We destroyed, and Our punishment came to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon.
8:54
كَ دَأْبِ ءَالِ فِرْعَوْنَ وَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِ هِمْ كَذَّبُ وا۟ بِ ـَٔايَٰتِ رَبِّ هِمْ فَ أَهْلَكْ نَٰ هُم بِ ذُنُوبِ هِمْ وَ أَغْرَقْ نَآ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَ كُلٌّ كَانُ وا۟ ظَٰلِمِينَ
[Theirs is] like the custom of the people of Pharaoh and of those before them. They denied the signs of their Lord, so We destroyed them for their sins, and We drowned the people of Pharaoh. And all [of them] were wrongdoers.
90:6
يَقُولُ أَهْلَكْ تُ مَالًا لُّبَدًا
He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance."
9:42
لَوْ كَانَ عَرَضًا قَرِيبًا وَ سَفَرًا قَاصِدًا لَّ ٱتَّبَعُ و كَ وَ لَٰكِنۢ بَعُدَتْ عَلَيْ هِمُ ٱل شُّقَّةُ وَ سَ يَحْلِفُ ونَ بِ ٱللَّهِ لَوِ ٱسْتَطَعْ نَا لَ خَرَجْ نَا مَعَ كُمْ يُهْلِكُ ونَ أَنفُسَ هُمْ وَ ٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ إِنَّ هُمْ لَ كَٰذِبُونَ
Had it been an easy gain and a moderate trip, the hypocrites would have followed you, but distant to them was the journey. And they will swear by Allah, "If we were able, we would have gone forth with you," destroying themselves [through false oaths], and Allah knows that indeed they are liars.
